چکیده

Coal seam gas (CSG), also known as coalbed methane (CBM), is an important source of supply to the liquefied natural (LNG) exporting facilities in eastern Australia and Australian domestic market. In late 2018, became largest exporter LNG world. 29% country’s nameplate capacity three east coast that are supplied primarily by coal gas. Six geological basins including Bowen, Sydney, Gunnedah, Surat, Cooper Gloucester host majority CSG resources Australia. The Bowen Surat contain estimated 40Tcf whereas other relatively minor accumulations. Basin South Australia, thick laterally extensive Permian deep seams (>2 km) currently underdeveloped resources. Since 2013, production exclusively from has been tested a single add-on fracture stimulation vertical well completions across Basin. rates reserves achieved since 2013 demonstrate robust statistical distribution (>130 hydraulic stages), mean which, economically viable. characteristics rank, thickness hydrogeology present-day stress pattern create favourable conditions for production. Detailed analyses high-resolution borehole image log data reveal there major perturbations maximum horizontal (SHmax) orientation, both spatially with depth basins, which critical geomechanical modelling. Within basin, significant variability content permeability may be observed depth. reasons such variabilities sealing overlying formations, measurement methods, thermal effects magmatic intrusions, structures regime. Field studies show enhance throughout depletion fields functional form versus reservoir pressure exponential, consistent observations North American fields.

Impacts of coal shrinkage, permeability and petrography on gas regime in mines Case study: Tahmoor coal mine, NSW, Australia

The volumetric changes in the coal matrix (Coal Shrinkage), permeability under various gas environment conditions as well as perographical properties were studied in the laboratory. The shrinkage and permeability of coal were examined with respect to changing gas type and confining pressures. The shrinkage tests were carried out in high-pressure bombs while the permeability study was conducted ...

Gas Permeability Evolution Mechanism and Comprehensive Gas Drainage Technology for Thin Coal Seam Mining

A thin coal seam mined as a protective coal seam above a gas outburst coal seam plays a central role in decreasing the degree of stress placed on a protected seam, thus increasing gas permeability levels and desorption capacities to dramatically eliminate gas outburst risk for the protected seam. However, when multiple layers of coal seams are present, stress-relieved gas from adjacent coal sea...

Health Effects of Coal Seam Gas - Tara

I visited Tara on 11 and 12 October as requested, to undertake a review of individuals who believe their health has been adversely affected as a result of coal seam gas exploration being undertaken in the region. Queensland Health provided the consultation room with the Tara health facility, and also advertised my attendance, and made appointments for those families and individuals who telephon...

All-age hospitalization rates in coal seam gas areas in Queensland, Australia, 1995–2011

BACKGROUND Unconventional natural gas development (UNGD) is expanding globally, with Australia expanding development in the form of coal seam gas (CSG). Residents and other interest groups have voiced concerns about the potential environmental and health impacts related to CSG. This paper compares objective health outcomes from three study areas in Queensland, Australia to examine potential env...
